Directional drilling

EDILMAC has applied for the first time a special civil engineering guidance system to the raise boring method to offer a service of directional drilling for inclined shafts.

The application of the MGS (Magnetic Guidance System) to the RBM was improved with Inrock.

The paratrack guidance system has been installed in to a non-magnetic casing to avoid any interference coming from the drill string. A sealed bearing directional mud motor is installed on top of the non magnetic casing.

This is able to give free rotation to the tricone bit. The adjustable 1.9° angle on the mud motor allows the drill string to follow a planned profile. EDILMAC is working to develop this system in order to be able to propose the excavation of curved shafts with a profile defined in the planning stage.
