Since the beginning of 2013, Edilmac has participated in the “Projeto de aproveitamento Hidroeléctrico de Cambambe” in Angola.
The project (entrusted to the Brazilian company, Constructora Norberto Odebrecth SA) includes the expansion and modernisation of the Cambambe dam on the Kwanza river.
The dam was built between 1958 and 1962 and is extremely important since it supplies electricity to the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul, Malanje, Uige and Zaire.
When finished, the 700 megawatts of power will be produced, almost double the production. Edilmac is involved in the excavation of 4 pressure wells, 67m long and 1.84m in diameter with the use of a “Robbins” 61 Raise Borer high performance machine.
In addition, a high performance overhead travelling crane will be used for widening (the initial diameter of 1.84m will be widened to 8.50m) and coating. Edilmac’s work is proceeding extremely well thanks to excellent staff professionalism combined with the most modern technologies, which are essential in being able to complete these important works.
